MAGGIE VENTURA

“The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most.”

I’ve always had a love for art and color. I clearly remember telling my art teacher in elementary school that I would be an artist when I grew up. Throughout my life I’ve explored working with a variety of media and fell in love with painting because of the colors and movement. I’ve worked with acrylics, oils, and most recently, watercolors. Art is my passion.

It’s always been important for me to keep creativity at the center of what I do. Following my love of painting, I spent half of my 20’s teaching Sip and Paint classes. I instructed and entertained groups (as large as 120 people!) on painting processes. I love talking to others about art and describing colors, which lead me to my path working for Sherwin-Williams as an In-Home Color Consultant in 2017.

I trained with Sherwin-Williams on how to apply my understanding of color theory to house painting projects and found it so rewarding helping people select paint colors - the right paint colors have a positive impact on the daily lives of my clients in their homes. In 2020, my job with Sherwin-Williams was lost to covid and I spent the next year as a store employee, tinting paint and learning even more about products and application.

In 2021 I left my position with Sherwin-Williams to start Ventura Color because I feel it’s my calling to improve peoples lives with color. My mission is to learn what’s most important to my clients and help them to achieve their paint color goals by asking thoughtful questions and considering all elements that need to coordinate. I truly enjoy the process of helping my clients identify the paint colors that help them feel their best, whether we’re starting from square one or a place of inspiration.

Since starting Ventura Color, I’ve become especially passionate about working on paint color palettes for the many historic and Victorian homes in St. Louis City, working frequently in neighborhoods such as Soulard, Tower Grove, Shaw, Compton Heights, Lafayette Square, University City, Central West End and Webster Groves.

Outside of my business, I spend my time making art, doing yoga, dancing to live music, hiking, camping, and kayaking. I am a supporter of local businesses and am proud to know so many other business owners in St. Louis. I love any time that I get to share with my husband (and biggest supporter) Matt, our pugs Gene & Birdie, and our cats, Mouse Man & Marbles. I feel blesses for the life I get to create and am thankful for all of the support from my friends, family and clients.
