MAGGIE VENTURA

“The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most.”

I clearly remember telling my teacher in elementary school that I would be an artist when I grew up. I’ve always followed my passion for creativity, learning to work with a variety of media as a teenager. I fell in love with painting because of the colors and movement and have pursued that as my main artistic hobby ever since, working with acrylics, oils, and most recently, watercolors. I didn’t know exactly what I wanted to do as I got older, but I knew it was essential for me to keep creativity at the center of it.

I spent 5 years in my 20’s teaching Sip and Paint classes, instructing groups (as large as 120!) how to paint a painting. I loved talking to people about art and describing colors, which lead me to my path working for Sherwin-Williams in 2017 as an In-Home Color Consultant . I trained with Sherwin-Williams on how to apply my understanding of color theory to house painting projects and found it so rewarding helping people with paint colors. I made a positive impact on my clients daily lives in their homes by helping them find the right paint colors for them.

In 2020, my job with Sherwin-Williams no longer existed due to covid. I started Ventura Color in 2021 because I feel that it’s my calling to improve peoples lives with the use of color. I truly enjoy the process of helping my clients identify the paint colors that help them feel their best, whether we’re starting from square one or a place of inspiration. Since starting Ventura Color, I’ve become especially passionate about helping with paint colors on the many historic and Victorian homes in St. Louis City, working frequently in neighborhoods such as Tower Grove, Shaw, Compton Heights, Lafayette Square, University City, Clayton and Webster Groves.

Outside of my business, I spend time making art, dancing to live music, hiking, camping, and kayaking. In the last year, I’ve developed a daily morning yoga habit that I’m very proud of! I love any time that I get to share with my husband (and biggest supporter) Matt, our pugs Gene & Birdie, and our cat, Mouse Man.
