MAGGIE VENTURA
“The purest and most thoughtful minds are those which love color the most.”
I’ve always been passionate about art and color and can remember telling a teacher in elementary school that I would be an artist when I grew up. I’ve explored working with a variety of media but fell in love with painting because of the colors and movement. I’ve worked with acrylics, oils, and most recently, watercolors.
It’s always been important for me to keep creativity at the center of what I do. Following my love of painting, I spent half of my 20’s teaching Sip and Paint classes. I instructed groups (as large as 120 people!) on how to paint a painting. I loved talking to others about art and describing colors, which lead me to my path working for Sherwin-Williams as an In-Home Color Consultant in 2017.
I trained with Sherwin-Williams on how to apply my understanding of color theory to house painting projects and found it so rewarding helping people with paint colors. I made a positive impact on my clients daily lives in their homes by helping them find the right paint colors for them. In 2020, my job with Sherwin-Williams was lost to covid and I spent the next year as a store employee, tinting paint and learning even more about products and application.
In 2021 I left my position with Sherwin-Williams to start Ventura Color because I feel that it’s my calling to improve peoples lives with my understanding of color. My mission is to ask the right questions to learn what’s most important to my clients and help them to achieve their paint color goals. I truly enjoy the process of helping my clients identify the paint colors that help them feel their best, whether we’re starting from square one or a place of inspiration.
Since starting Ventura Color, I’ve become especially passionate about working on paint color palettes for the many historic and Victorian homes in St. Louis City, working frequently in neighborhoods such as Tower Grove, Shaw, Compton Heights, Lafayette Square, University City, Central West End and Webster Groves.
Outside of my business, I spend time making art, dancing to live music, hiking, camping, and kayaking. In the last year, I’ve developed a daily morning yoga habit that I’m very proud of! I love any time that I get to share with my husband (and biggest supporter) Matt, our pugs Gene & Birdie, and our cat, Mouse Man.
